THE COURSE
The Success in Single Lung Ventilation’ simulation and workshop course is held twice a year at St Thomas’ Hospital in London, and is popular with Thoracic and non-Thoracic anaesthetists. It is taught by Consultant Thoracic Anaesthetists and Thoracic Surgeons.
The course is limited to 12 candidates to gain maximum hands on experience during the course. The course is delivered over one day. The morning session comprises of hands-on workshops:
Double-lumen tube placement
Difficult airway management for one lung isolation
Bronchial blocker placement
Simulated fibrescopic management (ORSIM)
Considerations for rigid bronchoscopy
The afternoon session immerses the delegates in high fidelity simulation scenarios to practice and discuss common team scenarios.
